Exploring Artistic Legacy: Analyzing Artifact Differences Across Kingdoms Using Machine Learning
About
This research project is a new journey from Machine Learning to Kingdom Learning with Mathematics, Art and Data Science (MADS), exploring mathematical concepts embedded in historical paintings and artefacts and their evolution across different kingdoms in Sri Lanka.
This project strongly aligns with the 2025 International Day of Mathematics theme: Mathematics, Art, and Creativity, emphasizing the importance of the intersection between mathematics and art.
Furthermore, this project closely aligns with the mission of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura—‘Develop globally competent citizens through our education for a sustainable future, drawing inspiration from our cultural heritage and wisdom.’ The principal investigator, Dr Thiyanga S. Talagala, is affiliated with the university and actively contributes to this vision.
